Misquotation is, in fact, the pride and privilege of the learned. A widely- read man never quotes accurately, for the rather obvious reason that he has read too widely. -- Hesketh Pearson

Points of Interest – 8/22/07

  1. This kid has been good lately… so good, in fact, that his parents got him a new bike!

Now they don’t have to die!

    …uh-oh.

  2. One lucky bidder got to walk away with the panties Megan Fox wore in TransFormers.

…beyond that, I really, REALLY don’t want to think any further of it.

  3. Over a decade before Marvel had a Civil War, Disney’s Darkwing Duck had Super Hero Union Blues… which, as noted, has remarkable parallels.

    Part 2 be here.

  4. If you’re like me, in a place where the power of the MegaMan Star Force anime cannot reach, then you may be happy to know that there’s still hope.
  5. Racketboy has definitely been on the ball lately. For starters, he’s got a new feature, Games That Defined the Super NES, which really reads almost like a who’s who of gaming. Truth be told, narrowing it down to these alone almost seems like a disservice to the Super NES’s legacy.
  6. Racketboy has also given his thoughts on the current state of affairs in regards to Sonic titles, and has kept an ear out for other interesting points to be made, which of course they have.

Incidently, the topic has come up in other circles lately, as well.

  7. If you haven’t been to Toastyfrog.com lately, he’s got this new sort of Wiki thing going that hosts articles talking about classic games… and not-so classic games. They make for pretty good reads, and have nice pics to boot.

This week’s offerings are Mario Bros. and Mega Man 3 for the Game Boy, which amazingly, I have never gotten to play. I’m just waiting until I find a copy, or Capcom finally releases the GBA Mega Man Anniversary Collection, whichever comes first.

Incidently, I do wish that Nintendo would wise up and release arcade-perfect ports of its old games like this on the Virtual Console. For Donkey Kong? There’s no comparison. And while Mario Bros. had a pretty damn good port, I liked the arcade version just that much more.

Incidently, reading this brought one other thought to mind: Mario Bros. Classic (from the GBA Super Mario Advance series, as seen at the bottom) as a Wii Ware online title. That’d be pretty cool.

  8. “OBJECTION!” is out; “EINSPRUCH!” is in.

    I decree it so.

  9. Wow, Europe gets all the good stuff. *ducks*

Not only do they get Freshly Picked: Tingle?s Rosy Rupeeland, but they get a magazine ad for it, to boot!

It’s funny… I remember a time when Nintendo just didn’t do magazine ads.

  10. The guys over at WayForward Technologies didn’t just walk in out of nowhere and say “we’re making Contra IV,” they had to work their way up. And this is their story.
  11. Samus is in Playboy!

I’ve been waiting a very long time for a new Darkwing Duck comic (at least, one that’s new to me). Thanks for that!
