The Daily ‘Shroom – 1/12/07
- Good news!
Bad news!
Ever heard of Sniper Studios?
Fortunately, GameSpot has interviewed the associate-producer, so hopefully that will answer a few things.
If it’s good, I may actually have a new title to grab for my PSP, as I loves me some Cuuuuraaaaaazy Taxi. And so far, it sounds promising with multiplayer.
Now, we just need a version for Wii.
- Hmm, sounds like Castlevania: Symphony of the Night is going to break the 50MB limit set on XBox downloads…
- In a bit of coolness in the area of art, this year’s “i am 8-bit” exhibition will premiere at GDC.
I can’t wait to see what they’ve got this year.
- G4 is getting a new show called Code Monkeys, a cartoon animated to look like an oldschool video game which follows, appropriately, a group of game developers from the 80s.
Now watch it turn out to be good, and Canada not get it.
- Sounds like the plan is for Dragon Quest IX to launch by the end of the year.
- In addition, Square-Enix is going to make an announcement this year regarding the 20th anniversary of Final Fantasy.
…holding your breath is ill-advised at this stage, watch this space for further details.
- “Reowr,” indeed.
- Is this worth bragging about yet? Eh, take what you can get, I guess.
I’m sticking with what Peter Moore said awhile back, I think it was to the tune of “ask me about things on January 1st, 2008, and we’ll see where we are.”
- Huh, looks like SEGA can’t take a joke.
Let’s hope this doesn’t become a trend.
And shouldn’t SEGA of America be on this, if it’s such a problem?
As expected, though, the users have begun to retaliate.
Beware explicitness.
- Kotaku has the numbers surrounding how everyone did with their system sales last year.
- Ok, so the killed Konami games aren’t killed after all.
- Since I know that some friends of mine, among others, are into this whole 24 thing, I figured I’d pass along the word that McFarlane Toys are going to be releasing two sets of Jack Bauer figures.
- In addition, NECA and Action Figure Xpress are going to be releasing a variant mini-statue of He-Man’s daddy.
- And the second New Avenger is…
My money is on Captain America.

Everytime I read someone comparing the Wii line-up to the Gamecubes.. it irks me.
The Wii’s line-up is a little light right now because quite frankly, outside of the most avid fanboys, nobody was certain people would go for it. Nobody wants to spend millions on a game only to find that it’s stuck on a platform that nobody’s buying. Look at what happened when people developed for the PSP. A successful PSP game is lucky to make back the cost of development. If the Wii hadn’t done so well, the situation would be the same as with the PSP.
Now, the Wii is not too expensive to develop for. It has an install base. We will either be seeing games coming, or every developer who voiced approval of the remote when they saw it, will be proven a liar.
The Game Cube was massively outstripped by the PS2 at the outset. The Wii has no such weakness. For PS3 to pull ahead now will depend entirely on a few titles that are in the future. And each one of those will meet the question “Is it worth over $500?” And those may not remain exclusives for long. For the PS3 to dominate this generation, we’re talking something like what happened in the recent Hand-held battle. And any Sony fan should keep in mind that it was the Nintendo DS that pulled out despite a massive stumble during launch.
