The MMN Revue for Thursday, December 9th

Friday, December 10th, 2010

Been busy with some stuff lately, so nothing new on the Examiner front, I’m afraid. Meanwhile, here’s all the Mega Man news that is (or perhaps isn’t) fit to print!

From The Mega Man Network:

Let’s Welcome Reo Uratani, Composer – This is the man behind the music for Mega Man Legends 3.

Also, Bonne Mech Wallpaper for phones.

Mega Man Gets a Little Wordy – Following a similar piece based on Mario comes this fan art of Mega Man, comprised entirely of words which describe the hero (or some of his close affiliates). And it’s available in t-shirt form, too!

Archie’s Mega Man: Coming in… – When can you run down to your nearest comic retailer and purchase the first issue of the Blue Bomber’s illustrated adventures?

UDON Announces Mega Man Tribute – UDON reveals their upcoming art project book, which follows in the footsteps of their similar projects for Street Fighter and DarkStalkers. Find out how to contribute through the link!

Wordy Mega Man Update, Plus El Hombre de Proto! – More information on where to find the shirt mentioned above (in more sizes), as well as a cool Proto Man shirt.

Some Clarification on Mega Man Tribute’s Rules – Why aren’t Battle Network and Star Force part of the Mega Man Tribute? Why aren’t certain things allowed? Find out the answers to your questions here.

Here Are Your Bonne Mecha Finalists – It’s a Fatal Five-Way between the baddest of the bad!

Edit: Whoops, one thing from the Canada Nintendo Examiner. Meant to post this yesterday, but since it’s about something tonight, I’m adding it here right now:

Oh, something I forgot to post yesterday, but which corresponds with tonight:

The Zelda Marathon 2, for charity.

The Examiner/MMN Revue for Monday, December 6th

From the Toronto Video Game Examiner:

Games shipping the week of December 6th, 2010

From the Canada Nintendo Examiner:

The Canada Nintendo Examiner’s holiday guide to Nintendo DS

The Nintendo Download – 12/6/10 – All in all, a pretty good week for the Nintendo Download, virtual fireplaces aside. Some interesting stuff here, at the very least.

From The Mega Man Network:

Mobile Rockman 9 Goes a Little Easy – Don’t worry, it’s just a few extra items in inventory for the rookies.

Mega Man Legends 3 Event 3: The Townspeople – Want to learn more about the world of Legends? Now’s the time!

The Examiner/MMN Revue for Friday, December 3rd

Saturday, December 4th, 2010

From the Toronto Video Game Examiner:

Toronto video game deals for the week of December 3rd to December 9th, 2010

From The Mega Man Network:

Mega Man Legends: City Folk – Who doesn’t love a good NPC? Next week, the Mega Man Legends 3 Devroom will allow people to give names, personalities, and even some lines to the folks inhabiting a world covered in endless water.

UDON Teases “Biggest Mega Man Project Yet” – I have a hunch people are going to enjoy this, particularly some of you reading this. Oh, if only I could say more…

Rumor: VA for Mega Man in MVC3 – Supposing it’s true, the question remains: Which Mega Man? Could it be the Classic hero of 20XX? Or might we get a peek at the voice we can expect to hear in Legends 3?

What Is Your All-Time Favorite Mega Man? – Wow, how does one choose? I could probably pick a different game as my favorite for two weeks straight… maybe more.

Bonne Mecha Contest Voting Back on Track – Which oversized juggernaut of death will you vote for?

– Some kids today just don’t appreciate the classics. But this fellow, Ryan, is not one of them. Also, he’s 18, so not really so much a kid any more.

The Examiner/MMN Revue for Wednesday, December 1st

Thursday, December 2nd, 2010

“Gee, things have been quiet on this front lately. I wonder what’s going on?”

Okay, so I’m not actually imagining anyone has been saying that, but in any case, I’ve been putting a bunch of work into some stuff. Namely…

From the Canada Nintendo Examiner:

The Canada Nintendo Examiner’s holiday guide to Wii hardware

The Canada Nintendo Examiner’s holiday guide to Wii games, part 1

The Canada Nintendo Examiner’s holiday guide to Wii games, part 2

Yeah, this has taken up a good chunk of time lately. Next time, I’m starting my holiday guide in July.

In any case, this is a list of games I believe would make good or popular choices as gifts this holiday season. A few are token “this is too popular NOT to be on there” choices, rather than anything I care about (such as Call of Duty or Rock Band 3, for example). But for the most part, I believe in these choices.

And doing this, I believe anyone who says there is nothing on Wii has too much time and too much money. Go take up skydiving, or mountain climbing, or totem-pole carving. Maybe begin investing in first-print comic books.

As for a DS guide… well, that’s coming.

From the Toronto Video Game Examiner:

Eidos Montreal reveals Deus Ex: Human Revolution’s “Augmented Edition” – Eidos Montreal and Square Enix have put together some enticing bonus packages for those who are into the Deus Ex franchise. I’m looking forward to the game more than anything else they have shown here, but there is some neat stuff, nonetheless.

From The Mega Man Network:

Voting Begins for Bonne Mecha Contest – Actually, there’s a kink in the voting process. It’s like Florida all over again…

More Mega Man Legends 2 Avatars Available on PSN – And they’re all Data!

In Case You Were Wondering… – …what the latest from Keiji Inafune is.

Mega Man X Collection: Reloaded and Reprinted – Miss your chance the first time? Well, now you have the opportunity once again to get six Mega Man X games, plus Mega Man: Battle & Chase, in one complete package.

The Examiner/MMN Revue for Monday, November 29th

Tuesday, November 30th, 2010

It’s been a little while, given Thanksgiving and work on other projects. Here’s a look at some of what’s gone on over the past few days…

From the Toronto Video Game Examiner:

Toronto video game deals for the week of November 26th to December 2nd, 2010

Games shipping the week of November 29th, 2010

From the Canada Nintendo Examiner:

EB Games/GameStop Canada now taking pre-orders for Nintendo 3DS – Of course, the details are probably just guesstimates, but yes, you can pre-order the 3DS and Kid Icarus Uprising now.

The Nintendo Download – 11/29/10

From The Mega Man Network:

Power Up Your Drink with the E-Mug – Better than an E-Tank energy drink? Maybe!

Insane Mega Man/Rockman Auction for Child’s Play – There is a lot of cool stuff in this auction, including sealed games and a number of Keiji Inafune-autographed items.

OCR Releases 3rd Teaser of MMX Series Fan Album

Say Hello to Fujikawa and Ozaki

How to Play Mega Man 2 – I have a tape like this somewhere, except mine told me how to beat Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles and other Ultra games.

The RipTen/MMN Revue for Tuesday, November 23rd

Wednesday, November 24th, 2010

No Examiner today; my attention was elsewhere. Where else? Behold:

From RipTen:

RipTen Review: Crazy Taxi (XBLA) – A recurring source of controversy among video game fans these days is the use of in-game advertising and product placement by developers and publishers, with many feeling that it intrudes on the experience and provides no benefit to the consumer. And while such things are typically frowned upon, is it possible that removing the licensed elements of what is widely regarded to be a good game can actually hurt the product?

From The Mega Man Network:

Own Your Own Mega Man Cutaway Figure – A touch creepy, perhaps, but an interesting work of art you can have in your very own home (for a price)!

–LBD “Nytetrayn”

The Examiner/MMN Revue for Monday, November 22nd

Tuesday, November 23rd, 2010

A little behind on things… let’s play catch-up.

From the Toronto Video Game Examiner:

Toronto video game deals for the week of November 19th to 25th, 2010 (updated)

Games shipping the week of November 21st, 2010 – It’s on like you-know-who.

From the Canada Nintendo Examiner:

Everyone goes bananas at Donkey Kong Country Returns launch in Toronto – This was a lot of fun. Ever seen a world-champion competitive eater down 16 bananas in a minute? Now is your chance, and with other pictures, too, including one really cool kid.

The Nintendo Download – 11/22/10 – Virtual Console update, woo! It looks like a spiritual successor to Joe & Mac: Caveman Ninja, but without any idea how good it is.

Orange and green Nintendo DSi bundles coming to Canada – If holding out for a 3DS isn’t an option, maybe one of these would make a nice gift this holiday.

Who are the new starter Pokémon for Black & White? – Well, you may know who they are, but do you know what they’ll be called outside of Japan?

From The Mega Man Network:

Rockman Online Demo Details – This actually just kind of retreads on most of what we said last week, but with a little more clarity in spots.

The TMMN Megacast #003: The End of Tabby!? – I still don’t know what the title means, and neither Heat Man nor Tabby won’t tell me.

Yet More Rockman Online Details – For one thing, it’s not “massive” any more.

Jazwares Is At It Again – More Mega Man toys? It should be interesting to see what they’ve devised this time.

The Ultimate Uncovering – Fun fact: Zero was going to have his own armor upgrade in Mega Man X4.

–LBD “Nytetrayn”

The Examiner/MMN Revue for Thursday, November 18th

Friday, November 19th, 2010

From the Toronto Video Game Examiner:

What games are your Canadian Forces playing? – Canadian Forces have ordered around 500 games, and strangely enough, they aren’t the hottest new releases.

GameStop brings Black Friday to Canada – Clearly, Boxing Day/Week could not contain all the bloodshed. At least this one seems to be an online-only affair.

New trailer, screens, Q&A, and analysis for Deus Ex: Human Revolution

See Donkey Kong Country Returns, bananas eaten at Toronto launch event – I realize this seems like it should be in Canada Nintendo Examiner, but since it’s in Toronto, I figured maybe I should put it here instead.

From the Canada Nintendo Examiner:

Nintendo revives WiiWare demos – About time, though it may also only be for a limited time.

From The Mega Man Network:

More Rockman Online Gameplay, Screens, and Details – The gameplay reveals little new, save for the space station lobby the characters sit around in, but there are some other interesting details to be found here.

–LBD “Nytetrayn”

The Examiner/MMN Revue for Thursday, November 11th to Tuesday, November 16th

Wednesday, November 17th, 2010

More kidney stone fun has led to a bit of a delay in me reporting what I’ve been writing, so here’s a quick catch-up on things:

From the Toronto Video Game Examiner:

Activision announces veteran donations from Call of Duty: Black Ops sales – While one Canadian veteran of the Vietnam War questions the release date of Activision’s latest Call of Duty title in proximity to Remembrance Day, the company has revealed that it will be donating a sum of money to “Call of Duty Endowment” to help find places for war veterans to work and live.

Deus Ex: Human Revolution Impressions – Following our preview and interview, here’s what we think of what we have seen of the game thus far.

Toronto video game deals for the week of November 12th to November 18th, 2010

Games shipping the week of November 15th, 2010

Slideshow Tour of Eidos Montreal – Wrapping up the Deus Ex: Human Revolution experience is this photographic tour of the development studio.

From the Canada Nintendo Examiner:

Nintendo Canada announces 2010 Holiday Mall Tour – Fun for all! That is, if you’re in Canada, and near one of the locations Nintendo will be appearing at. Some awesome swag will be available, too.

Miyamoto Watch – 11/11/10 – With the 25th anniversary of Super Mario Bros. well underway, Miyamoto has been making the rounds.

The Nintendo Download – 11/15/10 – Another Virtual Console-less week. Need for Speed looks neat, but that is sadly just for DSiWare.

Happy Birthday! Nintendo’s Shigeru Miyamoto turns 58 – Yesterday, Mario creator Shigeru Miyamoto reached the big… er, five-eight! Congratulations!

A busy week in Nintendo history – Miyamoto’s birthday isn’t the only thing which has occurred this week in Nintendo’s history; many significant game releases and platform launches have occurred over the years, too.

From The Mega Man Network, with a big thanks to Heat Man and Lanceheart for helping cover stuff while I’ve been out of sorts:

Robot Master Field Guide Officially Announced – A veritable who’s who of Robot Master information, at your fingertips. Check out the preview pages in the link.

Mega Man Megamix Vol. 3 Preview – More Ariga! More we say! Plus, check out Mega Man being a little naughty in his language, thanks to one Heat Man.

Legends 3 Devroom Opens Next Week – …actually, it’s open now. See below.

Rockman Online Introduces Cinnamon – A familiar face shows up in Rockman Online. But will she be playable? Regardless, fans of Cinnamon should click to see her new art– it’s really quite nice.

Zero Announced for Marvel Vs. Capcom 3 – We all knew this was coming. We just had to wait for the right timer to count down to… well, you know.

Mega Man in MVC3 Leaked? Round Two! – There’s a bit of buzz saying we could see not only the original Blue Bomber in Marvel vs. Capcom 3, but a certain NetNavi equivalent as well.

Legends 3 Devroom Kicks Off – As noted above, it’s finally here!

North American Devroom Open! Get Your Servbot Number! – And in North America, too! Note that some people have been having trouble getting their Servbot number (mine is 66), so you may need to check out Capcom Unity’s guide to make sure everything is set up properly.

Mega Man Fights the Console Wars – A Mega Man X equipped with Classic weaponry joins Mario, Link, Samus, and Zelda to fight “Firewall” in this recreation of “what could easily be considered the most traumatic RPG battle on the SNES.” Can anything thwart this unstoppable force?

–LBD “Nytetrayn”

The Examiner/MMN Revue for Wednesday, November 10th

Thursday, November 11th, 2010

From the Toronto Video Game Examiner:

Interview with Deus Ex: Human Revolution Producer David Anfossi – We get down to business, and ask the most important question of all.

Canadian Vietnam veteran displeased with Call of Duty: Black Ops release date – Is it an issue of a war game near Remembrance Day, or of one featuring Vietnam?

From the Canada Nintendo Examiner:

Super Sonic’s role in Sonic Colors (spoiler)

Nintendo says ‘it’s on,’ files for trademark of popular phrase – This just kind of came up out of nowhere.

From The Mega Man Network:

Do You Smell What The Rock(man) is Cookin’? – This is what happens when two of my favorite worlds collide.

–LBD “Nytetrayn”
