"Prepare to let your right brain run wild." -- Reggie Fils-Aime

The Daily ‘Shroom – 8/23/07

One would think that with a gaming conference going on, there would be more to talk about.

One would be wrong, apparently.

  1. Kicking things off, JeuxFrance has gotten ahold of some *exclusive* footage of Super Mario Galaxy.

So exclusive, in fact, that they weren’t even supposed to take it. Maybe this is why game companies don’t like Europe so much.

  2. TransFormers news is slim pickings today. You get to see how to use Ultimate Bumblebee, step-by-step.

Also, word is that to fill the gap in Movie toys on shelves, we could see more… Cybertron? Come on, Hasbro… Classics would be better, don’t you think?

And that’s pretty much it there.

  3. More DC Comics Manga-style figures are on the way, in the forms of Supergirl and her alternate-Earth alternate self, Power Girl.
  4. Is there a term for fans of Final Fantasy? “Final Fans,” perhaps?

Well, whatever they’re called, good news for them, along with fans of Dragon Quest and whatever else Square-Enix makes, as the company in question has opened an online store for their US-bound Fantaphiles.

    …does that work?

  5. Sakurai was a bit late in updating Smash Bros. DOJO!! (as Joystiq says, it’s them shouting, not us) last night, but I suppose that depending on who you ask, it was for good reason.

And of course, that reason is a New Challenger, one who I think should’ve been in Melee, the sidekick of Kong, Diddy Kong!

Hope he retains his cartwheel move. It’d be neat to see several mini-Diddys rolling around everywhere, instead of mini-Donkeys. Save the big guy for the BIG Donkey Kong battle…

  6. Sonic is back, and he’s on track, with Sonic Riders: Zero Gravity.

Yes, ladies and gents, they’re making a sequel. Which means that someone must have bought the first. Maybe this time, the Wii controls will help make the ride more intuitive…

Speaking of sequels, Sonic Rush Adventure has emerged with a new trailer as well. The game looks promising, let’s hope that it’s better than the first.

Not long after that hits shelves, the PSP will get a little ‘hog lovin’ as Sonic Rivals 2 hits the scene, and is that a playable Espio I see?

Sonic, Mario, and the rest are continuing their preparation for the Olympics in Beijing, and GameSpot was lucky enough to catch some pics of the group practicing.

…is that Bowser with a bow? I don’t care if it IS half his name, it’s still a good reason to start running.

The Olympics are in China. Mario needs to start hauling ass for Italy.

And given what some people think of Cream, finding a pic with “FOUL” in big letters over her head is just a tad amusing. Almost as amusing as the fact that the item she’s holding could perhaps be mistaken for a dirtied knife…

JeuxFrance is supposed to have a video, but damn if I can get it to work.

  7. Not to be left out of the fun, Konami’s own crew of characters has decided to take part in New International Track and Field, which will include characters such as Sparkster and… Pyramid Head? With a giant pole?

    Insert meme here, eh?

Anyway, we all know that Bill Rizer’d take them ALL to school.

  8. Friends and fans, this day we have been blessed by the emergence of yet another Castlevania: Dracula X Chronicles trailer, this one focusing more on the lady Maria and her ferocious furry and feathered friends, accompanied by a lovely remix of the wilderness theme from Castlevania II: Simon’s Quest.

Fall cannot come soon enough, for two reasons. One being that I want to play the above game. The other being that it’ll be when Igarashi begins the next DS game!

  9. It’s like a Contra countdown: the Virtual Console started with Contra III: The Alien Wars, and now the second game in the series, Super C, is on its way as well.

I wonder if the original will hit just before Contra 4 comes out.

  10. Are you a man, or a mouse?

Or just a really manly mouse?

    (6) I can’t begin to tell you how cool and bold and original Sonic Riders 2 is to me. Rather than changing the fact that Riders is a gimmick racer, they made Riders 2 centered on the most unbelievably brilliant and awesome gimmick ever which also makes it the first Sonic game ever in which every stage is Space Gadget. It doesn’t even look like a racing game half the time in that trailer, but some insane psychadelic game where you’re falling in total chaos. I am in love with it so much.
