The Daily ‘Shroom – 11/27/06
Ok, sorta missed the weekend wrap-up, but all the goods are here.
- First, it was “Nintendo Thumb” in the 80′s and early 90′s. Now, it’s “Wii Elbow.”
- Legal ROMs? There’s more to it than that, actually, but it’s interesting news for those who are interested in “archiving” oldschool games…
- So, by hook or by crook, you’ve managed to get ahold of a Sony PlayStation 3.
The bad news is, there may be a 1-in-100,000 chance (one would guess) that it was by crook, as it’s been discovered that the GameStop PS3 robbery was an inside-job, with employees setting up the whole thing.
Police say they may be able to track the stolen goods by their barcode numbers should they be hooked up online.
- Wow.
A replica Master Sword, Hylian Shield, and The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess sample soundtrack with certificate of authenticity?
WANT. NOW.
Sucks that it’s only at Target, and we have none here. I could just cry.
- Think I mentioned this before, but as time goes by, it seems to become more and more clear that Capcom, specifically Keiji Inafune’s lot, need a freakin’ clue.
- Well, if you’re any good at hacking, and your PS3 allotment is lacking, just hack this guy’s site, and everything will be alright.
…it’s a contest, I’m not trying to promote anything malicious here.
- XBox 360 and PS3 games not compatible with one-another.
Though I do have to wonder… is it possible? Online, I mean, to have the same game on different systems able to play? Do we have the technology?
I mean, Hell, I can chat on mIRC from a Windows computer with someone on a Mac, so…

7. Yeah, it should be possible. Right now, for Phantasy Star Universe, the 360 servers are separate from the PS2 and PC servers (it’s shared between the two platforms). But a friend reminded me of Phantasy Star Online, and how it started out on separate servers, but eventually some of them were combined. I think the PC version may have been separate just because it was too different from the console versions (including expansions the consoles didn’t receive). And what about FFXI? I’m not too sure on that game since I don’t play…

4. It’s a shame that Master Sword and shield model looks so… cheap. It sounds impressive, but on closer inspection it’s not really something I’d want to put on display just because it looks so… well, cheap. When they have a metal one with a lot more detail I may go for it though. If they offer such a thing.

Oh, those aren’t metal? I’d heard they were, and that’s why the set cost so much…

It may be metal, but it looks like plastic. And it’s missing the exquisite detail from the shield from the game. It just strikes me as a lazy cash-in product.

…I’ve gotta say, that’s the coolest contest I’ve seen nin a good while.
