"Now, in reality, the world have paid too great a compliment to critics, and have imagined them to be men of much greater profundity than they really are." -- Henry Fielding

The Daily ‘Shroom

  1. Found this a Penny ArcadeMiss Video Game 2007.

    …what.

Something about this whole thing strikes me as… odd. Maybe it’s the seeming afterthought of making this have anything to even do with video games.

  2. Hmm, seems that the Wii launch title list has been tweaked a bit. Nothing too earth-shattering, though.

On a related note, IGN has updated their Wii launch guide to look a little closer at the 29 games that’ll be out before the ball drops in Times Square.

To reiterate, the ones that most interest me are(in order of preference): Zelda, Excite Truck, Red Steel, Dragon Ball Z, and maybe Marvel: Ultimate Alliance.

And Wii Sports, but that doesn’t count, since it’s packed in.

There’s more I wouldn’t mind trying(Rayman, for example), but those are the ones that interest me most.

As for the Virtual Console titles, it’s slimmer than I thought.

From the NES, I might go for old fave Urban Champion, maybe, and perhaps Solomon’s Key. The rest I have in some form or another. Super NES… yikes. Either one is decent, sure, but… Nintendo 64, pass. Unless it’s the DS version sans touchscreen stuff and with analog control. Then try and stop me.

SEGA, Gunstar Heroes and Toejam & Earl might be good picks, and I’ve always wanted to try TG-16′s Bonk’s Adventure.

Interesting that Super Mario World and Super Mario Bros. are absent, though… seems they’d be shoe-ins. So much so, in fact, that they are shoe-ins… in Japan. Seems we’re getting the shaft on VC titles at launch…

…oh well, at least we get free Wii Sports, right?

Meanwhile, The Zenspace Chronicles’ Cody Musser gives his thoughts on this turn of events.

    Can’t say I disagree.

  3. Hell. Literally.

Looks like the Halo movie just landed in development hell.

  4. Picked up word earlier from The Nintendo Database that Nintendo World 2006 will have a new Super Smash Bros. Brawl video. That’s this Friday, and I can’t wait to see it.

Game|Life debunks the rumor of new characters being revealed, though… at least per what Sakurai’s journal tells us.

  5. Coming soon to Wal=Mart, an Wii Buyer’s Guide by IGN. Says there’s not much new for info, but a rather extensive list of games with screens.
  6. Disney says, “more Kingdom Hearts!” and Square-Enix says “not just yet.”
  7. Starting today, you can preorder Halo 3 at EB/GameStop.
  8. Like Evil Dead?

    Like Marvel Comics?

Then boy, are you in for a treat!

  9. I think these heroes are about as non-Kosher as you can get.
