Liepzig 2K6
And, the next game show of the season has begun…
Funny thing here is, it feels like a slow news day, but we have a rather healthy number of items here for you today.
1) Boss Frog talks about changes to Boktai DS in its US-localized form, Lunar Knights.
Most bizarre indeed. Not entirely unheard of, but still. At least you can change the names back.
—–
2) brings us word of RPG Motivational Posters, for those times when you’ve rolled one fumble too many.
—–
3) posted an awesome little product: Power Up! Energy Drink, featuring Mario!
I want one. No, two. One to try, one to keep.
—–
4) Win.
—–
5) Hmm, regarding the whole Mega Man ZX sans voices thing? And the weird shake-up of MegaMan Battle Network 5 Double Team DS? This explains a lot.
…except for the fact that there seems to be absolutely nothing new happening on the Classic/X front. And the fact that Legends saw some of the best voice acting in games, ever. Which makes me wonder what Johnson is doing now…
—–
6) Lots of stuff coming out of Leipzig… the official trailer for The Legend of Zelda: Phantom Hourglass being one.
—–
7) As rumored, Super Mario Strikers Charged has been announced for the Wii, and has its own trailer as well, plus a stage demo as well.
Looks like Bowser’s taking a new approach to playing…
Gamespot gives their first impressions.
—–
8) Meanwhile, Gamespot also has coverage of Konami’s annual Gamer’s Day.
Sigh, still no new Contra.
At least Castlevania: Portrait of Ruin is looking good. And Charlotte just keeps looking better…
—–
9) Ultimate Ghosts N’ Goblins is coming to PSPs sooner than later.
—–
10) New from Artoon and Nintendo comes new Yoshi’s Island 2 screens.
N-Philes makes a good point: “If Donkey Kong Jr. grew up to be the modern DK that we all love, why does Baby DK not look like Donkey Kong Jr. at all?”
My answer? Retcon/unexplained story. Sort of the same as “why was Luigi born with a green hat?”
—–
11) Still looking forward to Project H.A.M.M.E.R..
—–
12) Once more, Nintendo curiously thumbs its nose at the US by releasing a pink DS Lite in Europe, to accompany the white and black versions.
—–
13) I accidently misread this as GC 2006: Karaoke Revolution Snags American Idiots”
—–
14) Wow, and here the Wii is claimed as being revolutionary…
—–
15) Hmm, Nintendo’s E3 press conference this ain’t. Zzzzz…
Oh well. Can’t win them all. I imagine it might’ve been better to see it than read it, though.
Then again, without Miyamoto swinging a sword around and Iwata telling Reggie who his daddy is, I guess this makes a hard follow-up.
(Yes, I know those were prior E3s, still)
—–
16) Just for the record, it seems a lot of pages are offering up a lot of “new shots” of previously-announced Nintendo games, and I haven’t linked many here. Why?
Because they aren’t really that new. Mostly stuff we’ve seen, or screencaps of videos we’ve seen.
Boo.
—–
17) Lots of new gameplay videos for Sonic the Hedgehog over at GameTrailers, including Sonic and Silver in action. HD and regular included.
—–
18) Next-Gen gets answers from Danny Ledonne about “why I made the Columbine game”.
—–
19) Goody, not to be outdone by its 360/PS3 counterpart, Sonic and the Secret of the Rings has a new trailer.
Nice ending.
—–
20) This is bizarre. No Resident Wiivil? Hmm. That sucks.
—–
21) Ooh, I wish I’d gone to LGC, so I could get these.
—–
22) Damn Mexicans.
No, that’s not a racist remark. It is in fact a term of jealousy here, as Pizza Huts in the Mexican Republic are giving away Nintendo DS’s and Wiis.
…or should that be “Mexican Republicans?” I dunno.
—–
23) Over in Europe, it seems that the price of the Wii will be… less than 250 Euros.
Man, they just love teasing us with that number, don’t they?
—–
24) More Uwe Boll hijinx.
—–
25) “Violent Pac-Man” researcher responds over at Joystiq.
—–
26) The Console War in analogies.
—–
27) I’m still not sure I care about Bully, new trailer or not. I mean, it’s hard to take a guy who looks like Bobby Hill in a boarding house uniform too seriously.
At the same time, I’m a little compelled to at least take a look at it…
…but lack of a PS2 easily solves that modest dilemma for the time being.
—–
28) New Metal Gear Solid 4 video.
It doesn’t really get interesting until a little over halfway through.
At which point, it brings to mind an old saying…
“This is gonna hurt.”
—–
29) Cool, from The Allspark, a link to some images of the TransFormers Classics Optimus vs. Megatron 2-pack.
And pics of upcoming characters like Grimlock, as well, via the sides of the package.
Ha-cha…
