The Daily Shroom – 8/17/09
Okay, since no one objected (and I received one vote of active encouragement), here are the stories I posted over at Kombo today.
- UDON Announces the Art Archive Anthology from Ace Attorney – First, UDON brings us Street Fighter, then Mega Man Zero, and now they’re hitting us with three months of artsy Capcom goodness with Mega Man: Official Complete Works in September, The Art of Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney in October, and Mega Man X: Official Complete Works in November.
Now, if only someone would do the same for Nintendo. There is something close, a Japanese book of art by renowned artist Yoichi Kotabe which contains some of his work on Mario and Zelda, perhaps among others.
The problem? It’s hard to find, and prohibitively expensive. But would I ever love to get my hands on that.
- Microsoft “Never Planned” for Halo to Become Its Flagship Title – Who would have thought that Microsoft didn’t expect Halo to become the phenomenon it is today?
- Capcom Reflects on the Shortcomings of Bionic Commando – I think we can safely say that the new Bionic Commando bombed. That said, I actively encourage and plead with anyone who has not downloaded Bionic Commando Rearmed yet to please do so. It’s too late for GRIN, but perhaps if Rearmed does good enough business in the downloadable sector, it may keep Capcom from putting the game back into cold storage for another two decades.
It’s only ten dollars, and definitely worthwhile. They’ve even recently released a patch which makes some of the easier difficulties a little more friendly to those who couldn’t hack it before.
- Rare Says Natal Gives Opportunity to Investigate Classic IP – Rare has a rather nice back-catalog of titles. Personally, I’d love to see them bring Wizards & Warriors back, Natal or not. But one has to wonder which properties they might have in mind.
- Price of Xbox 360 Arcade Bundle Increases in Europe; Pro Goes Unmentioned – What’s more, they’re actually taking the games out of the package.
- Earthworm Jim Coming to PSN, XBLA, WiiWare – “Earthworm Jim! In soil he did crawl! Earthwork Jim! A super-suit did fall!”
Here’s hoping it lives up to the 16-bit titles. Bonus if they bring back that theme.
- Court Greenlights Class-Action Suit Against EA for NFL Exclusivity – Have you bought a Madden NFL game from EA since August of 2005?
Really? And you read this site? Huh.
Well, anyway, there’s a class-action lawsuit going on that you may want to get in on.
And that’s a wrap!
