There are four boxes one uses in the pursuit of freedom: Soap, ballot, jury, and ammo. We use them in that order. -- Anonymous

Points of Interest – 8/28/07

  1. “McChurger?” What the hell’s a McChurger?

    OH, a McCHURGER… right…

…I don’t know whether to be disgusted or to make one.

  2. Nabbed from WebbAlert, what is bacn?

Long story short, it’s e-mail that you want… just not right now.

  3. Good prank, great prank, or just going too far? You be the judge.
  4. Looks like I missed this from a couple of weeks back: an interview with Mega Man’s bodyguard, from the San Diego Comic Con.

Q: Was everyone excited to see the ?Mega Man? himself in person?

A: Surprisingly so. I knew Mega Man was popular ? this being his 20th Anniversary and all ? but HOW popular was still a pleasant surprise as people of all ages bolted over for pictures or shouted ?Mega Man!? as soon as they saw a flash of blue.

  5. Don’t know what’s more impressive, that Uwe Boll was at PAX, or that he lived to tell the tale.
  6. So while Super C hit the Virtual Console today, Super Contra, the arcade game upon which Super C was based, came to XBox Live Arcade not too long ago. If you’d like to see someone give it a good run, you can check it out on YouTube.
  7. The final stage of GameTrailers’ journey through the saga of Samus Aran and Metroid is now available. The Metroid Retrospective part 5 looks at the overall story of the series, and how much of it fits together, including some peeks from the e-manga from over at Mechadrake Assemblies, Inc.
  8. Meanwhile, ScrewAttack.com looks back at a little title from days of old known as Silkworm, a side-scrolling shooter that lets you command a jeep or a helicopter to wade your way through enemy forces.
  9. If you were casting for the role of Samus Aran, who would you choose? GameDaily has some ideas.

I could go for Jessica Alba in that role… though really, a nice unknown might be best, so that they don’t have to submit to the seeming inability for larger celebs to stay masked for very long.

  10. Wow, now here’s a blast from the Metroid past: commercials, from far and wide.

My favorite might just be the live-action(?) Metroid Prime commercial, though.

  11. If you’re going to be near Times Square any time soon, then you might want to swing by the Nintendo World Store so you can grab some of this neat MP3 stuff.
  12. Sigh.

    Someday.

Someday, I’ll be sent stuff like this, too.

    Someday…

  13. Pfft, I wish I could be paid to just lay around all day.

…then again, all the eyes on me would probably start to feel a little creepy.

  14. And to wrap things up, remember Chip and Dale: Rescue Rangers?

Someone does, as they’ve apparently gone to great lengths to create a 231-page “graphic novel” with a more mature tone than the cartoon show sought to provide.

What I’ve read so far is interesting, anyway, but I’m only about 30 pages in. Definitely worth a look, though undoubtedly not everyone’s cup of tea.
